Sensing & Shifting Emotional States
You are an emotional body. You were born with a body primed and ready to express your needs through emotions, and they influence all you feel, think, do, and say. Everything you encounter triggers your emotions, and then influences your health, relationships, perspective and perception of the world. Yet studies have shown that the majority of us can't clearly sense the emotions that are emerging and expressing in our bodies. When we do identify our emotional states, many of us tend to use an extremely limited emotional vocabulary, averaging around only three emotion words. Some social scientists say those who are emotionally fluent would have nearly thirty words to describe how they are feeling.
This interview will reveal information on a method for somatically sensing emotions and applying physical emotion regulation methods, supported by scientific research and years of instructional development. Come and learn more about how you can develop greater emotional fluency and try some exercises on sensing and shifting your emotional states.
About Laura Bond
Laura Bond is an internationally recognized master teacher of physical emotion regulation, using the emotional effector patterns. She teaches physical emotion regulation methods in university classes, private lessons, and through regional, national, and international workshops. She studied and co-taught with one of the founding scientists of the emotional effector patterns, Susana Bloch, in the USA and in Chile where Susana Bloch resides. Since then Laura has dedicated her career to developing new methods for teaching emotional awareness and the emotional effector patterns to the general public. She also works with performers, public presenters, business professionals, therapists and life coaches to help them recognize how physical emotion regulation and the emotional effector patterns can be used in their practices.
Laura often teaches workshops where emotional effector patterns are supported by the Feldenkrais Method ® (taught by Feldenkrais® guild certified instructors) and the Estill Voice technique. As a result of this partnering, Laura has developed new ways to teach emotional effector patterns with greater somatic clarity, vocal expression application, and sensitivity to the individual. Laura is considered a universal emotional effector pattern teacher, creating lessons and workshops designed to match the needs of individuals from varying backgrounds and professional fields.
